TEQUILA
Tequila is named after a town in the state of Jalisco, Mexico and in the language of the local Nahuati tribe, the word 'tequila' means volcano. Tequila and Mezcal are produced from kinds of Agave (Uh-Gah-Vee) which is a member of the Lily family. Agave Tequilana Weber, the Blue Agave is the variety used to produce Tequila. In Mexico, Tequila is served at room temperature in a two ounce 'Caballito' shot glass. Anejo (aged) Tequilas should be drunk neat like a quality Cognac. Tequilas are traditionally served with salt and lime or even on the rocks! |
